False Prophet in My Community
Is there a false prophet in your community? There's definitely one in my community. It's a young woman who thinks she hears from God and continues to publicly post her false prophecies on social media. She sees Bethel Church in Redding California as holy ground. Whereas, I see Bethel as a breeding ground for false prophets. She's definitely been nurtured by its fallacious teachings.
Last week I heard a couple non-Christians bring her name up. They dubbed her a whacko and were very familiar with her false predictions, especially the ones revolving around the most recent presidential election. They could see clearly how off base this false prophet truly is, even better than many Christians, especially the ones who follow her and say "amen" to her prophetic lies.
Jesus warned us about these false prophets.
For false christs and false prophets will rise and show great signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect. (Mat 24:24 NKJV)
He also pinpointed their mode of deception.
"Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves.(Mat 7:15 NKJV)
You see, the false prophets aren't out to deceive the world. Their target is the church. They come in and act like people of the church, but their goal is to lead the true believers astray, and not just the laymen, but also the leaders. The lies of these false prophets begins with their own self-deception. They truly think they are hearing from God. At least, they think so at first. However, when a true believer attempts to hold them accountable, they ignore the truth and run to the ones they've led astray, seeking their approval. They also gather with other wolves in sheep's clothing who will pat them on the back and encourage them further down the path of deception.
I've personally experienced this as I confronted the false prophet in our community. I tried to show her the truth of the word and combat her mixture of scripture (taken out of context) and elements of the new age movement. It was all to no avail. My hope is that she would repent and truly come to Jesus. I still hope that. I'm prayerfully seeking God for wisdom in how to deal with her, even if it must be done publicly in order to see her soul saved.
Is there a false prophet in your community? What are you doing about it? For those of us who seek truth, we must be willing to stand up and let our voice be heard before the wolves destroy the sheep.
Stay blessed!
